Science Teacher Ms. Diana Wu is an Online Personalized Learning Science Teacher. With a B.S. in Biotechnology from Cal Poly Pomona and an M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology from Cal State Fullerton, she combines her deep understanding of science with modern educational approaches. Based in Montebello, Ms. Wu balances her passion for education with an active lifestyle. She has completed over 20 half marathons and embraces outdoor adventures through hiking, cycling, and camping.

Mathematics Martin Torres is an Online and Personalized Learning Mathematics Teacher. He earned his B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the U.C. Los Angeles in 1993, Single Subject Teaching Credential in 1998, and M.S. in Educational Technology from Concordia University Irvine in 2017. Martin lives in Hacienda Heights with his wife and cat. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, and participates in various indoor and outdoor physical activities.

Mathematics Ismael Huerta is an Online and Personalized Learning Math Teacher. He earned his B.S. from the University of Phoenix in 2007, his Single Subject Teaching Credential, and M.A. in Education from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2011. Ismael and his wife live in Covina, CA. with their three children. Both are a product of the community of El Monte where they find value in empowering students. Ismael enjoys spending time with his family, the outdoors, and exercising.

Social Science Brian Aliff is the Online and Personalized Learning Social Science Teacher. He previously spent 12 years teaching at Rosemead High School where he also coached basketball. He earned his B.A. in History from Cal State Fullerton in 2001, and his M.A. in Education at Cal Poly Pomona in 2011. Brian lives in Cypress, CA with his wife and two crazy children. Chemistry Teacher Jose Avila is an Online and Personalized Learning Science Teacher. He earned his B.S. in Chemistry and his Single Subject Science Teaching Credential in 2020 from UCI. Jose enjoys spending time with his family, collecting pokemon cards, playing video games, and playing with his 6 pets.

Social Science Dominic Hernandez has been a professional educator since 2016. He earned his bachelors degree in history at the University of California Santa Barbara and his masters in education at Loyola Marymount University. He takes great joy in helping his students to understand how the past relates to the present and directly affects how we live our daily lives.

English Language Arts Rubyanna Sare an Online Personalized Learning English Language Arts Teacher. Sare grew up in El Monte, going from Anne Legore Elementary, to Frank Wright for middle school, and graduated from Arroyo High School. Afterwards, she decided to attend Cal Poly Pomona and obtained her B.A. in English Education. Spanish Alicia Barajas is an Online and Personalized Learning Spanish Teacher. She earned her B.A. in Spanish Literature from the University of California, San Diego in 2004, her M.A. and Teaching Credential from Azusa Pacific University in 2008. She was raised in the communities of El Monte and South El Monte where she made some of her best friends, memories, and met her husband. She graduated from Mountain View High School 2000 and returned to her community and had been working in the EMUHSD

English Aaron Delgado is an Online and Personal Learning English teacher. He earned his B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2009. After taking time off to study and perform music for several years, he returned to school and earned his Teaching Credential and M.A. in Education from the University of Phoenix in 2019. In his spare time, Aaron enjoys hanging out with his family, playing his guitar, reading books, and spending time with family.

OPL Clerk Carmen Castillo is the clerk for Independent Study/Online Personalized Learning. She grew up in South El Monte and El Monte communities attending elementary, jr. high and high school. She graduated from Mtn. View High School in 1985. Mrs. Castillo obtained an administrative assistant certificate from a private vocational school in West Covina and has been employed with EMUHSD for 34 years. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family, watching movies, and road trips.

OPL and Independent Study Counselor Sandra Guerrero is the Online and Personalized Learning Guidance Counselor. She earned her B.A. in Spanish from California State University, Fullerton, in 2005, M.A. in Teaching in 2007, and her M.A. in Counseling in 2011 from Azusa Pacific University. Sandra is an alumna of South El Monte High School and enjoys working and living in the community that has given her so much. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with family.
